The Areas In and Around School Zones Would Be Less Safe
In general, the increase in car and ambulance traffic would create a less safe environment for children going to and from school, extracurricular activities and events. Urbanization of the area around Walton High School, Dodgen Middle School, and East Side Elementary School is not a good plan, and this community is adamant that our children be a priority when crafting development plans. We have chosen to live in East Cobb for its safety, excellent schools and suburban convenience. Commuters will suffer with the traffic under this development too, but we are focusing especially on children here as they are our future and extra care must be given. We drive our children to schools, sports practice, extracurricular classes, restaurants, places of worship and stores all around East Cobb. This is not an urban area, and we do not want it to become one.
We whole-heartedly support CCRCs in appropriate locations. However, due to the very urban design of CCRCs, they should not be allowed in low density residential neighborhoods. In short, the proposed Isakson LIving development puts our children at increased risk while decreasing everyone's quality of life. Anyone with a family can respect that. |
