3 Years Until Onsite Nursing Care Units Would Be Available
According to the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) code, a CCRC is not required to have onsite nursing care units until 3 years after opening the retirement community. That means that if Isakson Living East Cobb opened, seniors living there could have to wait 3 full years without in house nursing care units, and that would not be not fair to any senior. A good question to ask is where would seniors go if they needed full-time nursing care? What would the contingency plan be? This also relates to the fact that this property is not located close to a hospital.
We support changes in the CCRC code that would make it better for everyone, especially for residents and seniors. For example, CCRCs should be required to be located near hospitals for safety reasons.
